Blanchard Technology

With Blanchard grinding technology, parts are mounted to a rotating chuck and processed by counter-rotating grinding wheel segments. This produces a unique spiral surface finish suitable for a wide variety of precision applications.

Dimensional Control

Blanchard grinding removes material from one side of the part at a time. This ensures fast material removal and precise dimensional control of overall size and part feature relationships.

Surface Grinding

Surface grinding often achieves better dimensional control and superior surface finishes than Blanchard grinding alone. When required for your application, it may be used instead of, or in addition to Blanchard grinding.

By combining Blanchard grinding for rapid material removal during roughing operations, and surface grinding for finishing operations, we can quickly and economically provide parts that meet your most demanding requirements. Our surface grinding equipment can accommodate materials up to 30" by 120" by 36" in height. Or, by blend grinding, we can grind material up to 40" wide.

Double Disc Grinding

Double Disc Technology

With Double Disc grinding technology, parts are passed between two counter-rotating grinding wheels one or more times. Double Disc grinding removes material from both sides of the part simultaneously, providing surfaces that are flat and parallel in just one operation. This technology can be used for economical production of one-of-a-kind parts through millions of parts per year.

Dimensional Control

Double Disc ground parts can be precisely controlled for thickness while achieving superior surface finishes. Even difficult-to-grind materials such as inconel and titanium can be ground flat and parallel through Double Disc grinding where the parts are processed by flat wheel surfaces instead of wheel edges. Double Disc grinding can also be used to produce products with very thin cross sections while minimizing part stress.

Speed and Economy

For rotary feed and thru-feed applications, parts can often be completely processed at high speed in a single pass for quick turnaround and maximum economy. Our oscillating feed equipment can be used for large parts and applications that require more material removal than is practical with rotary feed or thru-feed equipment.
